About Me

“Hello world!” exclaims Rosalee, a.k.a. “Scarf”, a young PR hooligan who belongs in Stomp but prefers to be sensible and develop a long, exciting and meaningful career in communications.

Contrary to what some of her current and past friends, family and colleagues believe, Rosalee still considers herself a “newbie” when it comes to social media.

Rosalee is an inventor.  The only problem is that everything she’s ever invented has already been invented– and thanks to the World Wide Web, she can confirm this at the click of a mouse.

In coming to accept this knowledge, she has developed a philosophy that is not about reinventing the wheel.  Instead, it’s about continously finding ways to make everything better – not different – but improved.  It’s a process that brings out her best quality: creative thinking.

Her major downfall, however, is that she has less control over her need to put everything (all of these creative thoughts) into an aesthetically-pleasing chart form. In fact, her classmates could have very easily named her “Chart” instead of “Scarf.” She may soon investigate and find a way to blog in chart form.

Stay tuned fellow PR nerds.

WHY BLOG?

This blog was started as part of a social media course taken in a Public Relations program at Centennial College. It was a good idea for someone who had not been emersed in the online world more than random “Googling”, e-mail, and online banking.

I haven’t been very good at posting regularly, but when I do, I tend to blog about professional interests more than social interests.  However, THIS BLOG IS NOT INTENDED FOR PROFESSIONAL AUDIENCES AND IS NOT AN EXAMPLE OF MY PROFESSIONAL DEMEANOR.

Currently, this blog serves two main purposes:

  1. To help explain to family, friends and colleagues what social media is and what/where some of those tools are (and this means publishing content that isn’t necessarily earth-shattering or interesting to some of my peers who are social media savvy).
  2. To house and aggregate things that I do find interesting (which are usually related to corporate communications and PR) and to welcome comments from people who share or have an opinion on these interests/topics.
